2 Second

Eurythmy 2nd meeting 26 October 2025

I invite you to arrive within yourself. Come home to yourself, into your heart. Feel your shoulder girdle as a roof, your body as your house – and sense the experience that the roof carries the house.

Feel your collarbone and, with a sudden movement of the shoulder blades, throw off your burden. Feel the lightness that arises—the answering current from the periphery that brings the hands back. Feel how warmth streams into your heart from below.

This is how we began last time—with the gesture of devotion and reverence, born from the prime, the first tone of the scale.

Today comes the second tone of the scale, the second: Re

First, cross your arms closely in front of you, then unfold them limb by limb: upper arm, lower arm, hands. And again return: upper arm, lower arm, hands.

Make sure the legs are also included in the flow. Will, feeling, thought – willing, feeling, thinking. R - F - L  -  R - F - L.

Just as the prime belongs to the collarbone, so the second tone of the scale, the second, belongs to the upper arm: Do – Re. Will!

Feel the fundamental tone in your collarbone: Do. Let its energy flow out into your upper arms. Reach back into your rear space. Come forward through the chest from behind. Show your upper arms and let their strength be visible right into your hands—without losing the force in your upper arms: Re.

Will – spirit – bringing forth – thought – carried by will.

A musical process: Do – Re.
I sing it only as an impulse—you should really experience it inwardly: Do – Re.

And when this does not succeed, the soul gesture of despair arises: Upper arms – will – spirit – and now someone presses your upper arms tightly together behind your back as in a police hold. Still let the current continue to stream into your hands and feel how your back and the back of your head respond. Once more: upper arms – spirit – police hold – hands. Impossible to bring one’s own spiritual content forward! — Despair, for whatever reason.

I invite you to continue exploring, through the eurythmic second movement, the musical process involved in bringing thoughts into being—and not to shy away from the experience of despair.

Do – Despair.
Do – Re – Do
– Re.
